Boulder Oaks Gold Karat

Karat is a doe who hid in the back and was pretty unremarkable as a kid and dry yearling. I chose not to show any kids in 2023, the year that she was born, except for at the National Show, where she was the 14th place Junior Kid. However, she also was never shown as a dry yearling, since she had been a late-born kid, and as such, was smaller than her older yearling cohorts. I don't even have a single photo of her as a junior doe. That said, once she started building an udder as she approached her due date, she made sure that she couldn't be ignored or forgotten anymore! As a 2 year old first freshener, she's now one of the tallest of her age group, and has the nicest mammary system of the lot with a very high and wide rear udder, a strong medial suspensory ligament, and a wide, full, well-extended and well-attached foreudder. She didn't go to the first show of the season, but once she had recovered a bit from kidding and had really hit her stride in the milk parlor, she picked up a couple of 1st place wins in some very competitive classes in the local shows, and then was the 1st place with 1st Udder 2 year old at the 2025 CA State Fair! I'm looking forward to seeing a 2nd freshening on this doe, and believe that she'll be a fun one to watch as she matures! Karat also went to the final show of the year at the Big Fresno Fair, where she alternated with her herdmate Moonpie for 1st and 2nd place 2 year olds in each ring, and she ended the show season with a bang by going Senior Grand Champion in the 1st ring and Reserve Senior Champion in the 2nd!
